Since May this year, I have been using StatCounter which is a great utility with a simple to use interface. It also provides the most relevant statistics & details. Using such a tool is essential in order to improve & optimize the contents in your site. In my case, the month-on-month increase in the number of visitors to my blog has inspired me to make better & more relevant blog posts.

Does StatCounter give anything over Google Analytics?
I can't say for sure which one is better since I've been using only statcounter. However, a few of my friends who were using google analytics have switched to statcounter and they say that statcounter is better.
I can say that I've used statcounter, but I currently use gostats because it's all-around better. Plus there is no log limit. Google Analytics I use too; but it only updates every 24 hours.
